Dorsey Alston, Realtors, Atlanta’s oldest and largest independent residential real estate firm, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.

While the company has long been synonymous with integrity and professionalism, it has experienced its greatest success during the last 15 years, growing by more than 1,000 percent. It facilitated more than 1,500 sales in 92 zip codes, with more than $750,00,000 in closed sales volume last year alone.

“Dorsey Alston has always valued its reputation greater than its success,” said President and CEO Michael M. Rogers. “We have a strong, unbending identity, and we make strategic decisions based on our long-term goals rather than immediate benefit. That stability and unwavering focus has attracted both the best management and several of the best people in the business.”

Roy Dorsey and Robert Alston founded the firm in 1947. It was acquired by Buckhead businessman E. Paul Rogers Jr. in 1986.  Rogers passed away unexpectedly in 2000. At that time, the firm had 26 licensed agents. Rogers’ eldest son, Michael returned to Atlanta to oversee the firm.

In 2009, after earning his MBA from Stanford University, he became President and CEO. Over the last decade, Rogers has grown the company to 240 Realtors and created the culture that defines it today.

“When I returned to Atlanta and hired that first wave of new team members, a new culture was born within Dorsey Alston,” he said. “It is exciting to see the spirit of the company come to life, and it is an energy we are protective of maintaining.”

The firm is headquartered in a high-profile three-story office building at 100 West Paces Ferry Road, less than a block from the intersection of Peachtree, Roswell and Paces Ferry roads. In 2014, it purchased a second office on Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb. Rip Sartain is the managing broker and Patrick Wood is the firm’s vice president.
