Rajeev Dhawan, director of the Economic Forecasting Center at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, has been recognized by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago for providing the best real gross domestic product forecast at its 2016 Automotive Outlook Symposium.

Dhawan, who holds the Zwerner Chair of Economic Forecasting, was one of 27 economists who provided real GDP forecasts for the 2016 symposium.  He was presented with a certificate of forecasting excellence for his 2016 real GDP forecast at the 2017 Automotive Outlook Symposium earlier this month.

Held at the Detroit Branch of the Chicago Fed, the annual Automotive Outlook Symposium focuses on forces shaping the vehicle industry. Topics covered have included the future of the U.S. automotive industry, sales outlook, heavy truck industry outlook, dealers’ and suppliers’ perspectives on the sales outlook and the consensus outlook of symposium participants.

Since joining Robinson in fall 2000, Dhawan has issued 66 quarterly economic forecasts for the U.S. and for Georgia and the metro Atlanta area.
