Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO
Wednesday, June 14th, 2017
Kennesaw State University’s 10th Annual Star-Spangled Spectacular and Family Fun Festival will be held on Saturday, July 1, featuring a free concert on the Kennesaw Campus Green starting at 8 p.m., followed by a fireworks finale. This year’s Star-Spangled Sponsor is Henssler Financial. Northside Hospital is the Stargazer Sponsor.
A summer tradition of the University since 2008, pre-concert activities begin at 5 p.m. with the Family Fun Festival. There will be games, inflatables, face painting and balloon artists for kids — as well as food trucks, vendors and exhibits. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics and coolers.
The concert, produced by the School of Music, will begin at 8 p.m. with performances by the KSU Big Band and KSU Summer Orchestra, which consist of students, alumni and faculty members from the School of Music as well as members of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra. Music will range from classic patriotic favorites to exciting contemporary and popular selections. A spectacular fireworks show will follow the concert at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Free event parking is available in any open parking lot on campus, but guests are encouraged to park in the Central Parking Deck accessible from Frey Road. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held on Sunday, July 2.
