Lonnie Johnson to Receive TAG Diversity Leadership Award

The Technology Association of Georgia, TAG Human Resources and Diversity society, and TAG’s publication, Hub Magazine today announced that Lonnie G. Johnson, Founder/President of Johnson Battery Technologies will be presented with the 2017 TAG Diversity Leadership Award at the 7th Annual TAG Diversity Awards, held at Morehouse School of Medicine on June 27th.
 
The Diversity Leadership Award is TAG’s highest honor in recognition of diversity in the state’s technology industry.  Each year the award is bestowed upon an exceptional individual whose work and achievements have helped to create an “inclusive” environment for innovation in Georgia.
 
This year’s recipient, Lonnie Johnson is an engineer and inventor who holds more than 100 patents and leads Atlanta-based JBT. In a mission to create the next generation of battery technology, Johnson is currently spearheading the development of a new solid-state lithium-metal battery that can operate at very high temperatures while protecting against fire and explosion. However, he is best known as the inventor of the popular Super Soaker water gun, one of the most popular toys in the world.
