Birch Communications, Inc. announced the departure of Birch's President and CEO Tony Tomae.  On August 26, 2017, Fusion and Birch Communications Holdings, Inc., Birch's parent company, entered into a definitive agreement in which Fusion will acquire the Cloud and Business Services customers, operations and infrastructure of BCHI. Fusion's current CEO, Matthew Rosen, will be the CEO of the combined company following the transaction's close.

Kirby Godsey, Birch's Chairman of the Board, said, "During Mr. Tomae's tenure, Birch has recognized significant improvement in several key financial and operational metrics of our business, including sales and cost of sales, SG&A, EBITDA and free cash flow.  We thank Mr. Tomae for his leadership, and we wish him well in his future endeavors."
