Valor Ventures, an Atlanta-based venture capital firm, has taken a stake in SmartCommerce, a company in the Advanced Technology Development Center’s ATDC Accelerate Portfolio.
Atlanta-based SmartCommerce, led by CEO Jennifer Silverberg, is a retail technology (RetailTech) e-commerce platform that has streamlined the steps between an online customer’s decision to purchase an item and paying for it at checkout. The idea behind the technology is to help convert more sales for consumer package goods brands.
Terms of the investment were not disclosed, but Valor Ventures invests in a diversified portfolio of early-stage hyper growth tech companies.
“SmartCommerce is the clear pacesetter in helping consumer product companies launch new winners and grow their existing product base,” said Lisa Calhoun, Valor Ventures’ managing partner. “Valor is proud to support their customer-driven growth path.”
The investment was part of SmartCommerce’s pre-Series A round offering, Silverberg said.
SmartCommerce is now kicking off its Series A, is projected to be completed in early 2018.
“We had a lot of investor interest following the strong market demand during our launch in 2017, so we’ve focused strategically on investors who bring experience and connections in addition to their investment,” Silverberg said. “Valor was a perfect fit, and we are delighted to have them as a partner as we head into this growth year.”
