Atlanta Jazz Festival Presents 31 Days of Jazz Starting on May 1st

The Atlanta Jazz Festival will host 31 Days of Jazz events starting on May 1, leading up to the free 41st Atlanta Jazz Festival in Piedmont Park on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27. The 31 Days of Jazz are exciting events held at various locations across metro Atlanta, including MARTA stations, hotels, restaurants, local neighborhood parks and more.
The 31 Days of Jazz will kick-off with Jazz in the Sky at Colony Square on Tuesday, May 1. This free, yet exclusive, event will happen every Tuesday in May from 6 – 8 p.m. The first 15 people to RSVP via the Colony Square e-blast will enjoy the experience with a guest. MARTA Mondays will run from May 7 - 21 from 3 – 5 p.m. at a different MARTA station every Monday and will feature free jazz concerts that provide a unique preview to the upcoming Festival. The first one will take place at the Lindbergh Station, featuring the Chris Burroughs Trio.

May 14: 3 – 5 p.m. at Avondale Station, featuring the Mike Walton Quartet
May 21: 3 – 7 p.m. at Midtown Station, featuring Grut
The family-friendly Neighborhood Jazz Series will kick-off with a free live concert at West Manor Park on Saturday, May 6 from 4 – 8 p.m., featuring performances by Andre Dickens and Felicia Moore. Other free events will recur weekly throughout the month. Each Wednesday in May, The Loews Atlanta Hotel will host free jazz concerts from 6 – 9 p.m., while the Suite Jazz Series will happen each Thursday in May at the Suite Jazz Lounge on Luckie Street, and Fridays will feature Twilight Jazz at Atlantic Station.
The Breman Museum will feature clarinet and saxophone player Oran Etkin on Sunday, May 6. Tickets are $60 for non-members and can be purchased here. On Saturday, May 19, jazz lovers will have two options to experience great live music. The annual free Spring Jazz Vespers concert will happen at First Congregational Church on Courtland Street, while Chatt Hills Music will present Jazz in Chattahoochee Hills at Serenbe. Beginning on May 14 and ending on May 25, Jazz in the Airport Atrium will delight Atlantans and visitors alike to the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The daily concerts will welcome those arriving and departing Atlanta and will showcase Atlanta as an international hub for arts and culture from 5 – 7 p.m.
Festival weekend is May 26 – 27, and following Saturday’s Festival performance, the Late Night Jazz Jam will be held at Park Tavern featuring Russell Gunn and the Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra. This is a $40 ticketed event and sells out yearly. Tickets are available on Freshtix.
