“Amid formidable challenges, my Administration has worked earnestly to fulfill the pledges I made toward the principles of affordability, education, equity, public safety, mobility, and transparency.

In the first 100 days, we have made significant achievements:

•The enhancement of Citywide transparency, including the introduction of open records legislation and the development of a new, online open checkbook;

•The transfer of 31 property deeds to Atlanta Public Schools;

•The formation of a “Fight the Blight” program focused on demolishing abandoned buildings to improve our communities;

•A commitment to second chances for citizens by reforming the cash-bail process for low-level offenders and the unveiling of a re-entry program for non-violent offenders;

•The purchase of the final tract of land needed to complete the BeltLine, further fostering inter-connectedness and community.

On April 9, I asked all current Cabinet members to submit their resignations. My commitment to achieve my mission and objectives for the City of Atlanta underpinned my decision.

In the weeks ahead, I will finalize new roles under a refreshed organizational chart. This restructuring will enable me to continue the momentum made during the first quarter of the year and effectively implement my strategy for making Atlanta a more affordable, resilient, and equitable City.
 
As previously announced, national searches are currently underway to fill the following roles:

•Aviation General Manager

•Fire Chief

•Chief Procurement Officer

•Commissioner of Human Resources

•Chief Information Officer

•Chief Education Officer

In addition to these searches, the following Cabinet members will transition externally, and will be backfilled over the next few months:

• Jim Beard, Chief Financial Officer

• Jeremy Berry, City Attorney

•Catherine Buell, President and CEO, Atlanta Housing Authority

• Faye DiMassimo, Renew Atlanta General Manager

• Amy Phuong, Commissioner Parks and Recreation

• Stephanie Stuckey, Chief Resilience Officer

• Anne Torres, Communications Director

Separately, Melissa Mullinax, Senior Policy Advisor and Janquell Peters, Chief Service Officer will transition into different roles within the City.

I will continue to assess the breadth of skills, experiences and leadership traits needed to complete my leadership team, and will announce my nominations to fill these and other positions in the coming months. I am excited about the successes that lie ahead, and appreciate the service of these individuals to the City.
