FinTech South, the Southeast’s largest event dedicated to financial innovation, announces its finalists for the TAG FinTech Innovation Award Challenge. The four startups will now present to a sold out crowd at FinTech South on May 8 for a chance to win the nation’s largest fintech prize package of $50,000. Conference attendees will be able to live vote via SMS during the presentations.

The annual program recognizes Georgia’s best early-stage companies by showcasing them at the region’s premier fintech event. Nine companies were selected to participate in the month-long Innovation Award’s Education and Mentoring program, which concluded with its Pitch Night. The participants – Alias Pay, Capital Slack, DataSeers, Medxoom, Mercury Exchange, Qoins, Trusted Sale, Wela and Yellowcard Financial – presented to a panel of judges comprised of industry veterans, including Larry Williams, president of TAG; Chris Poelma, president & GM small business at NCR Corporation; Mayur Kapani, CTO at Intercontinental Exchange and Jikin Shah, SVP and head of enterprise transactions operations technology for SunTrust.

The ATDC is proud to announce that all four 2018 finalists selected are current members of the ATDC Accelerate Portfolio. Critiqued on the presentation and communication, quality of idea and business model, the four finalists selected to present at Mercedes-Benz stadium, are DataSeers, MedXoom, Qoins, and Wela.

“The quality of businesses and the brilliant leadership teams behind the nine companies that participated in the program this year far exceeded our expectations. It was a great representation of the talent and innovation that is growing in Georgia,” says Tommy Marshall, fintech lead at Accenture and head of the FinTech South Innovation Challenge. “It was a difficult decision to narrow it down to the final four. We’re excited to see them present on the main stage at FinTech South, and open the voting up to the Conference’s 1,300 attendees.”

FinTech South, hosted by the Technology Association of Georgia, is taking place May 7 – 8, 2018 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. The two-day conference will join the industry in an exchange of insights, innovations and trends fueling tomorrow’s financial tech industry. The Innovation Award Challenge is held annually in part of the Conference, and is open to early stage companies based in Georgia. The finalists participated in educational sessions including, Pitch Deck Do’s and Don’ts, Raising Capital and Legal and Compliance.
