Pope High School freshman Helena Soriano could soon have her art on Google’s homepage for hundreds of millions of people across the globe to see.  Google announced Soriano as Georgia’s winner for its annual Doodle 4 Google competition, a contest open to K-12 students across the United States to redesign the Google logo using the theme: “What Inspires Me?”

Soriano, a freshman from Pope High School in Cobb County, is one of the 53 state winners and competition finalists. Her doodle, “Wildlife Wonders” was chosen out of hundreds of entries received from students across the state. Soriano’s “Wildlife Wonders” doodle depicts wild animals in their natural habitats.

Soriano will now move on to compete against the other state winners from across the country. If selected as the National Winner, she will earn a $30,000 college scholarship and Pope High School will receive a $50,000 Google for Education grant towards the establishment and improvement of a computer lab or technology program.
