MARTA Police Department Holds Annual Awards Ceremony

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Friday, May 18th, 2018

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority Police Department will hold its annual awards ceremony on Thursday, May 17 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the James H. “Sloppy” Floyd Building in the Floyd Room – West Tower, 20th Floor, 2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The MARTA Police Department holds this awards ceremony in conjunction with the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Week.  As always, it is a time of reflection for the members of the police department as they remember one of their own, Micah Corey Brown, who passed away after being hit by a drunk driver on Oct. 25, 2003.

Chief Dunham advised, “Today we will recognize MARTA Police employees who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.  But, we will also recognize other MARTA employees, supporters, as well as everyday citizens, who answer the call of service.”

Awards presented will range from the Civilian and Lifesaving Awards to Supervisor, Detective, and Officer of the Year, among others.
