On June 17, 2018, Camp Southern Ground, the non-profit passion project of multi-platinum GRAMMY award-winning artist Zac Brown, opened its doors for the first summer of week-long sessions.

After successfully hosting three seasons of Fall Weekend Mini Camps, Camp Southern Ground is excited to take on the adventure of week-long sessions under the guidance of new Camp Director Scott Hicok. Building on their foundation of innovation, campers will continue to enjoy fresh programming and state-of-the art facilities that foster the growth of unique gifts, healthy bodies, and positive communities.

New to Camp this summer is the cutting-edge Residential Lodge. During summer camp sessions, rooms will sleep 128 campers by utilizing stacked bunks hidden neatly into the wall. In the camp off-season, the spaces convert into 16 private queen rooms which include a private bath and balcony. It will be during the off-season that Camp Southern Ground switches gears to focus on supporting our military veterans and their families through specialized programming hosted on the property.  The Lodge is targeting LEED Gold Certification and was designed by the Atlanta office of Perkins + Will.

Having witnessed Camp’s development first-hand, Camp Southern Ground CEO Mike Dobbs is proud to welcome the first summer session of campers.

“After 25 years of envisioning a unique and truly inclusive camp, I am honored and excited for my team to deliver on Zac Brown’s vision for Camp Southern Ground with the launch of our first weeklong, overnight, summer camp sessions. A unique opportunity to bring together children with neurodevelopmental challenges like Autism Spectrum Disorder and typically developing children, while also including the underserved youth and military children.”
