This summer Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, the largest allergy practice in Georgia, proudly acknowledges the 40th anniversary of Dr. Stanley Fineman practicing in Marietta and Cobb County.

“Having the opportunity to pursue my professional passion for four decades is truly a privledge,” says Dr. Fineman, who was again named a Top Doctor in the July issue of Atlanta Magazine. “Practicing in my hometown of Atlanta is icing on the cake.”

In 1978, after completing his allergy training program at Harvard University in Boston, Mass., Dr. Fineman took out a loan and opened a practice adjacent to what is now WellStar Kennestone Hospital. He grew his practice by knocking on doors and introducing himself to other physician practices. To enhance his business savvy, Dr. Fineman went back to school in the 1990s, receiving a Master of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. In 1997, he merged his practice with Atlanta Allergy & Asthma. Fast forward to 2018, and Dr. Fineman continues seeing many patients who first came to him in the early years of his Marietta practice.

Dr. Fineman’s desire to serve patients, and shape the future of allergy and asthma treatments, has been and continues to be a running theme throughout his career. He has served as principal investigator for numerous research studies, which have led to new therapies for allergic rhinitis, asthma, and most recently, significant developments in the treatment of food allergy. He was chosen to be president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, a leading national organization with more than 5,000 allergist/ immunologist members, and was proud to serve on the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters, which develops the national guidelines for allergy practice throughout the country.

Today Dr. Fineman sits on the board of the World Allergy Organization and travels around the globe leading training porgrams, teaching physicians the latest best practices for treating allergy and asthma patients in developing countries.

“I’ve watched the field of allergy advance through the years, from medical breakthroughs to the advent of digital technology in the workplace,” he says. “But the key aspect of treating allergy patients remains the same. And that’s the importance of clear communication with your patient.”

Dr. Fineman, an expert in his field, often communicates with the public at large through various media outlets. His interviews can be seen on national television including NBC News and the Weather Channel.
