Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS Raises $60,000 for Local Charities

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Monday, November 12th, 2018

The ACBR Community came out in full force -- even through challenging traffic and pouring rain -- to participate in the BrokerFest 2018 and make it one of the most successful events ever.  More than 400 leading commercial real estate professionals attended this event at American Spirit Works and enjoyed a terrific evening with friends and peers.  Although BrokerFest is always a fun and lively event, the purpose of the 2018 event was to raise funds for the newly established Scott Selig Scholarship Fund at Camp Twin Lakes and the Atlanta REALTORS® Educational Foundation.

The proceeds from the event will benefit The Scott Selig Scholarship Fund at Camp Twin Lakes and the Atlanta REALTORS® Educational Foundation. The Scott Selig Scholarship Fund was established to honor a long time Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS® member, and a past BrokerFest Chairman, who passed away from lung cancer on October 27th, 2017. Scott was a fighter and also an advocate for many children in need attending Camp Twin Lakes. Camp Twin Lakes is a program for children with serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges, including cancer or developmental disabilities, that provides year-round, fully-accessible, and intentionally designed camp programs that teach campers to overcome obstacles while creating shared experiences with other children who face similar challenges. After spending every other day of the year adapting to the world around them, for one week, camp adapts to them. The funds from the Scott Selig Scholarship Fund will help offset the cost for children to attend Camp Twin Lakes who otherwise would not be able to attend.

ACBR BrokerFest Committee Chairman Heather Lamb stated, “The money raised by the members of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors honors the life of Scott Selig through this fund with Camp Twin Lakes and sustains his legacy by helping children while they contend with their own unique battles, whether with serious illness or some other challenge. The Educational Foundation is a vital part of our organization and the proceeds will go towards education for our members within the real estate industry."
