Piedmont Newton Promotes Matthews to Chief Financial Officer

Piedmont Newton Hospital has promoted Lauren Matthews to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Covington hospital. Matthews has served as the interim CFO since June 2018.
Matthews joined Piedmont Healthcare in 2008 as a manager of finance at Piedmont’s flagship hospital in Atlanta. During her time at Piedmont Atlanta, Matthews collaborated with both hospital and departmental leadership to develop operating budgets and labor standards. She oversaw the planning for and accounting of strategic capital for the Atlanta hospital. Matthews worked closely with Piedmont Physician Group to develop annual budgets and ensure accurate projected physician growth.
In 2016, Matthews transferred to Piedmont Newton Hospital after being promoted to the director of finance position. She brought her knowledge of Piedmont Healthcare to the newly acquired Covington hospital and made practicing good stewardship with the hospital’s resources a part of the cultural fabric at Piedmont Newton.
Matthews holds a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and masters’ degrees in Business and in Healthcare Administration from Georgia State University. She is a resident of Decatur and her extended family is from Conyers and Covington.
