Cox Automotive Promotes David Brooks to Chief Technology Officer

Cox Automotive has promoted David Brooks to chief technology officer effective, reporting to Chief Product Officer Marianne Johnson. He was most recently senior vice president of engineering at Manheim.
In his new role, Brooks and his team will be responsible for architecture, enterprise data engineering, emerging technologies, and delivering a consistent set of engineering practices, tools, and reporting to enable successful product delivery. The team will partner tightly with Chief Information Officer Mitch Gersten's enterprise technology organization and with product portfolio leaders.
"To better serve our clients' needs, we're shifting our organizational and operating model to more highly focused product portfolios enabled by enterprise centers of excellence," said Johnson. "As part of these changes, I'm pleased to announce that David Brooks has stepped into the role of chief technology officer for Cox Automotive."
Brooks joined Cox Automotive in October 2016 as vice president of technology for the Inventory Solutions Group, including Manheim, Ready Logistics, Central Dispatch and DealShield. Over the last 2 years, Brooks led the engineering team through the implementation of an Agile delivery model within Inventory Solutions. He reorganized the Inventory portfolio toward a digital-first strategy, while driving operational excellence across Manheim. Also, Brooks played a key role in completing Manheim's $400 million auction transformation project. Brooks also has a deep commitment to developing winning engineering cultures and defining engineering excellence, which he'll carry over to his new role.
In addition to his work at Cox Automotive, Brooks has more than 30 years of experience transforming engineering organizations and practices at large and small companies and is a crisis mitigation expert. At Equifax, Brooks was focused on modernizing legacy credit platforms and establishing engineering captive centers in Chile and Ireland. He has years of experience in data monetization and data as a product from his time at Choicepoint, Lexis-Nexis and Equifax. Brooks mastered the art of scale working with The Home Depot's retail, logistics and point-of-sale teams.
