Morgan Stanley Creates Impact on Local Community with ‘Sleigh It Forward’
Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO
Wednesday, January 16th, 2019
As part of the local Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s offices’ year-round philanthropic efforts, the recent holiday “Sleigh It Forward” event — a play on the “pay it forward” expression — marked the firm’s third year helping the Atlanta Mission at My Sister’s House. Employees of Morgan Stanley’s Buckhead, Perimeter and Pinnacle wealth management locations raised funds for My Sister’s House, an overnight homeless shelter that accommodates both women and children. The funds were used to purchase items from My Sister’s House’s Angel Tree Wish List for approximately 100 children, provide each child’s mother with a gift bag, and cover the cost of the 275 meals served at the event.
During Sleigh It Forward, held on December 19, 2018, approximately 15 Morgan Stanley volunteers were on site to give gifts, serve meals to mothers and their children, and sort donated items in the Atlanta Mission’s Santa’s Workshop so shelter residents could select additional gift items to give.
Every day, Morgan Stanley employees help clients around the world. “Our philanthropic work is no different — we combine the firm’s top talents, business acumen and charitable resources to create meaningful and long-lasting impact for our communities,” said Max Hilsman, Buckhead Complex Manager. “Our firm encourages its employees to give back to the community both financially and through firm-sponsored volunteer projects that take place year-round.”
“We appreciate Morgan Stanley’s involvement in helping us and those we serve,” said Jim Reese, CEO of the Atlanta Mission. “Once again, they came and filled a critical need during a special time of the year.”
