CIS of Atlanta Welcomes Cynthia Moreland as New Chief Development Officer

Communities In Schools (CIS) of Atlanta is proud to announce and welcome Cynthia Moreland as Chief Development Officer. Moreland will be responsible for cultivating revenue sources and increasing the awareness of the CIS of Atlanta brand and value by key stakeholders and the general public.
Moreland is an experienced nonprofit professional. As the former Executive Director of several Atlanta based nonprofits, she has worked successfully with community leaders, non-profit boards, corporate partners, private foundations and individuals to establish and exceed organizational goals. Her work has consistently garnered national attention for her program success, including features on WSB-TV People 2 People, CNN.com and a live CNN on air interview.
Her leadership skills earned her a nomination for a Leadership Character Award for Integrity, by the Turnkett Leadership Group. Moreland is a past presenter with the Atlanta Association for Fundraising Professionals and President Barack Obama’s 2014 listening tour for “My Brother’s Keeper”, highlighting programs to support African-American males. She is the past Regional Director of The HistoryMakers, a national oral history archive of African-American stories of success against the odds; former Chief Executive Officer of Charis Community Housing, an Atlanta based ministry dedicated to affordable housing; former Chief Executive Officer of The Cool Girls, Inc. an Atlanta based teen pregnancy prevention program and former Chief Executive Officer of The Nsoro Educational Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing opportunities in higher education for youth in foster care.

In her role prior to joining CIS of Atlanta, Moreland developed strategic plans and worked to implement and measure the success of resource development programs through a consulting firm she founded, The Synergy Group, LLC. Though a native of Washington, D.C., Moreland currently lives in Atlanta. She and her husband Ira have three daughters.
