Aliera Healthcare, an industry-leader in traditional and non-traditional healthcare plans, announced the appointment of Chris Buka as vice president of provider network engagement. An industry veteran of 20-plus years, Buka will be responsible for the development and execution of strategies to further enhance the member-provider experience in accessing quality, affordable healthcare.

Buka joins Aliera from Clover Health, a New Jersey-based healthcare technology and data analytics company focused on the Medicare Advantage markets. As a provider network engagement consultant, he was responsible for the development and management of high-performance provider networks.

“Chris is a proven executive that has grown and maintained expansive, diverse healthcare provider networks throughout the country and will help us meet members’ growing medical needs,” said Chase Moses, president of Aliera Healthcare. “In addition, he will further enhance provider network engagement for members by developing and managing direct relationships with the local provider community. As a result, his efforts will positively impact quality of services, costs and outcomes of care.”

Prior to joining Clover, Buka was an independent healthcare consultant focused on all aspects of the health plan and business process management industries. In that capacity, he worked closely with established health plans and start-ups on development and engagement initiatives. He has also served in administrative leadership positions for Medicare advantage provider network operations at Cigna – Health Springs and Cypress Care.

“I’m always looking to enhance the member experience as it relates to engaging providers,” said Buka. “Aliera’s unmatched approach in the changing healthcare marketplace offers members better access to affordable, personalized health plans. I’m looking forward to working with this accomplished team of innovators, who are committed to simplifying the complexities of healthcare and providing consumers more options to meet their medical needs.”

Buka received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Mercer University and an MBA and Master of Health Administration from Georgia State University.
