Nicole Columbo joins the Alzheimer’s Association as the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Event Chair in Gainesville.
“My participation with the Alzheimer’s Association has grown over the last decade from fundraiser and walk participant to chair of the event”, added Nicole Columbo. “My grandmother passed away due to complications from Alzheimer’s when I was very young. My involvement is a way for me to carry her legacy”, said Columbo.
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs. On Walk day, participants will honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with Promise Flowers during the poignant Promise Garden Ceremony – a moving display of hope to represent the personal reasons participants join together to fight Alzheimer’s.
“We are incredibly grateful to Nicole for chairing this very important event to help us end Alzheimer’s”, added Lauren Schmitt, Alzheimer’s Association, Manager, Gainesville Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “Nicole brings energy and passion to our event and helped us raise more than $70,000 in 2018”, added Schmitt.
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Downtown Gainesville Square in Gainesville. Nearly 600 people from Gainesville and surrounding communities are expected at this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease.
