Winter Wheeler Earns National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 Recognition

Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, is pleased to announce Winter N. Wheeler has been named a member of The National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 for 2019. This invitation-only membership is limited to the top 40 black attorneys under the age of 40 from each state who promote the organization’s purpose through the services they provide for individuals, families and businesses in their state. The National Black Lawyers is one of very few preeminent organizations in the United States established to promote the nation’s top black attorneys and is designed to enhance the professional development of its members. Wheeler was also honored in the organization’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2015.

The National Black Lawyers is a professional honorary organization that awards membership into the Top 40 Under 40, as well as its Top 100 ranking. Selection is by invitation only following a multi-phase review process that includes peer nominations and third-party research.

Wheeler practices in the firm’s civil litigation section and defends professionals, businesses and their employees in a variety of matters. Fluent in Spanish and living abroad early in her career, Wheeler is skilled in handling unique and complex matters involving a diverse range of cultures and clients, including high-stakes litigation matters valued up to $25 million.

Throughout her extensive practice, Wheeler has represented doctors, nurses and hospitals in medical malpractice claims; defended municipalities in matters related to water runoff and intrusion and code enforcement; handled litigation for the entertainment industry; represented attorneys in malpractice actions; and counseled trucking companies on regulatory compliance.

Wheeler attended La Universidad Complutense de Madrid before earning her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University. She earned her law degree from Tulane University Law School.
