APS Announces Process for School Meal Account Refunds, Donations
Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019
At the start of this school year, the Atlanta Public Schools Nutrition Department received approval to extend the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to all schools in the District, so that EVERY APS student now has access to free breakfast and lunch every day.
APS has announced its process for families that have existing funds on their meal account. Families can:
Receive a full refund of the funds,
Utilize the funds to alleviate the balance of another APS student's unpaid meal debt, or
Donate the funds to the Atlanta Community Food Bank to help fight food insecurity.
Families may go to the APS webpage at www.atlantapublicschools.us and click on the “Student Meal Account Refunds and Donations” box on the homepage to complete the authorization form indicating their preference. All donations to another student’s meal account or to the Atlanta Community Food Bank are tax deductible and will be acknowledged.
