MMMPact, the corporate social responsibility outreach of Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, has raised a total of $90,000 for The Drake House. The nonprofit, which provides housing and educational opportunities for homeless mothers and their children, is the firm’s 2019 nonprofit partner.

More than half of the funds – $57,000 – came from the firm’s annual “Cheers” wine and beer-tasting event, which was held October 25 at the Buckhead Club. In addition to the donations, the firm’s attorneys and staff also dedicated time to volunteering, teaching classes and organizing a clothing drive.

“The generosity of time and money from our MMM family is astounding – I am so proud to be a part of such an organization,” said MMMPact Chair and MMM Partner Christina Graham. “This event required a large commitment and many, many people chipped in to help all along the way. We should be very proud of our efforts and contributions!”

The Drake House works to respond to the growing number of homeless women and children in North Fulton by involving the community in the effort to keep single mothers and their children united under one roof as they work toward self-sufficiency. It is the only North Fulton-based agency providing private apartments that keep families together, including the often-separated male children over age 12. The Drake House helps families become financially stable through a variety of educational, empowerment and mentoring efforts. It also helps them remain in the community, keeps children in their schools and creates opportunities for employment to aid in the transition to stable housing.

“On behalf of the board, staff and most importantly the residents of The Drake House, we are so grateful to have been selected as the 2019 MMMPact Partner,” said MMM Partner Lynn Wilson, who serves on the nonprofit’s board. “The funds raised and the personal time given by firm attorneys and staff will have a lasting impact on our residents and their children.”

The firm will announce its 2020 nonprofit partner early next year. MMMPact also donates to dozens of other nonprofits as well.
