Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Monday, November 18th, 2019

On Thursday November 21, 2019 United Way of Greater Atlanta will bring together women of all backgrounds to celebrate and motivate the advancement of women.

The 12th annual Women’s Leadership Breakfast welcomes U.S. soccer star and activist for pay equality Abby Wambach and her partner Glennon Doyle, a thought leader and New York Times Best Selling Author, who will keynote the event. Both will discuss their raw experiences building community and achieving success as well as the evolution of women’s equity and the opportunities that lie ahead.

In addition to hearing from these inspiring female leaders, United Way will also be honoring Sally Yates, partner at King & Spalding and former U.S. Attorney General and as this year’s Woman of Excellence. United Way chose to recognize Yates for her unwavering commitment to serving her community and the example she has set for women of all ages across the U.S. and beyond.

Proceeds from the event will support the Women United Advancement Initiative. As part of United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Child Well-Being Impact Fund, this initiative breaks down barriers preventing women from achieving their full potential and providing the strongest possible support to their children and families. Women United is made up of 3,000 female leaders who are involved across 13 Metro Atlanta counties and have more than $7.4 million in annual regional impact.

“We’re beyond thrilled to welcome three female powerhouses to our great city to share their insight and inspiration at this year’s Women’s Leadership Breakfast,” said Milton Little, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Atlanta. “Our goal remains the same, to improve the well-being of children and families throughout Greater Atlanta, and we believe through strong female leadership and by empowering the women of Atlanta, we can get there.”
