APS High Schools Named 2020 Advanced Placement Honor Schools

The Georgia Department of Education announced today those schools that have been named 2020 Advanced Placement Honor Schools. The following Atlanta Public Schools made the list:  Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy, Drew Charter, Grady High School, Maynard Jackson High School, KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, Mays High School, North Atlanta High School, Therrell High School and Washington High School.

The Georgia Department of Education began recognizing AP Honor Schools in 2008, for achievement in three categories:  AP Access and Support Schools, AP Challenge Schools, and AP Merit Schools. AP STEM and AP STEM Achievement categories were added in 2011, and the AP Humanities category was added in 2015. This year two new categories were added: AP Humanities Achievement and AP Expansion Schools. The AP Merit Schools category was renamed AP Schools of Distinction.
