Dr. Jagdish Sheth, the Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Business at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, Georgia, has been awarded the 2020 Padma Bhushan Award in Literature and Education from the Government of India, the country’s third-highest civilian award.

Dr. Sheth received the award in recognition of his contributions to academia, industry, government and communities around the world. He also gives back to academics, business and the community through the Madhuri and Jagdish Sheth Foundation and the Sheth Family Foundation.

Additionally, Dr. Sheth has served as a TiE Atlanta Charter Mentor for 20 years, giving back to entrepreneurs in all stages and industries through mentorship and education.

"I am truly humbled and grateful for the Padma Bhushan award. A nation’s true competitive advantage is entrepreneurship. India is blessed with entrepreneurs. And there is no better organization than TiE to unlock India’s potential, especially in the digital age. I am proud to be a charter member of TiE Atlanta for 20 years,” said Dr. Sheth.

TiE Global Trustee C.N. Madhusudan added, “Dr. Sheth is a role model in the TiE community.  He is a generous mentor and a pillar of TiE Atlanta. The Padma Bhushan is a fitting recognition of his  efforts of multiple decades in recognizing India’s potential and realizing this potential.”

The award will be presented by the President of India in a formal ceremony in March 2020.
