Swinerton Celebrates National Women in Construction Week March 1st-7th
Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO
Wednesday, March 4th, 2020
Swinerton Southeast is one of the leading general contractors in the country, and home to some of the women who are driving construction excellence in the region. Throughout the first week of March, Swinerton is celebrating its 21 women in construction in the Southeast, and beyond.
In the Southeast alone, 13 women in construction in Atlanta, five in Charlotte, with an additional four support female team members help drive the construction business. In all, 49 percent of Swinerton Southeast’s team is comprised of women – in contrast to the industry average of just 1.5 percent of the entire U.S. workforce in 2018.* In fact, the percentage of women in construction overall has hovered somewhere between nine percent and 10 percent since 1996 and is currently at 9.9 percent. But of the 8.3 million that were employed in field production of the construction and extraction industries in 2018, only 3.4 percent were women.**
“Women play a critical role in the success of Swinerton,” said Jared Hoeflich, Swinerton Southeast Division Manager. “Female leaders such as Lonni Grattan and Lori Epstein in Charlotte and Robyn Schoch, Rachel Kurth and Pam Chapman in Atlanta are setting the pace for the construction industry, and we are proud to offer our clients the benefit of their expertise.”
