On April 27, 2020, Atlanta Postal Credit Union (APCU) donated 10,000 KN95 protective face masks to Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals in Atlanta, Macon, and Columbus. CMN is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is testing the world in a way that we’ve never previously faced,” said Chuck Head, President and CEO of APCU. “Paramedics, nurses, and doctors have risen to protect our community from this deadly virus while the rest of us do our best to stay home and stop the spread.”

APCU reached out to CMN to offer help for the network of local hospitals experiencing a shortage of personal protective equipment. “APCU’s donation is one of many examples that proves they set a gold standard in giving back to their community,” said Nick Coleman, Director of Corporate Partnerships at CMN. “Children’s hospitals are facing a crisis right now and donations like these allow them to continue providing advanced and affordable healthcare to families across the country, especially in Georgia.”

Every year, employees at APCU raise money through fund-raising activities to assist CMN in meeting their objectives. It made sense for them to step in and lend an extra hand during this time of elevated need.

“No ‘thank you’ will ever be large enough for what these heroes are doing every day on the front line,” said Head. “Providing essential protection like face masks to medical professionals and patients affected in our community is the best way for APCU to live up to the credit union motto of ‘people helping people.’”
