Chef Demetrius Brown to Open Heritage in Summerhill

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, October 28th, 2025

Nationally acclaimed Chef Demetrius Brown is taking his celebrated Heritage Supper Club to new heights with a brick-and-mortar location called Heritage, set to open next year in Atlanta’s historic Summerhill neighborhood (63 Georgia Avenue). As executive chef, Brown will guide the concept’s evolution within Atlanta’s culinary fabric, exploring the vibrant flavors and culinary traditions of African, Caribbean and Afro-American cuisine.

Born into a Trinidadian family and raised in Rhode Island and Georgia, Brown first launched Heritage Supper Club in 2021. Named “Best Food Pop-Up” by Atlanta Magazine, Heritage Supper Club was hosted at local restaurants and coffee shops after hours and specialized in the cuisine of the African diaspora with creative dish ideas rooted in Brown’s memories of cooking alongside his great-grandmother.

The supper club built its reputation on refined, multi-course tasting menus, and the forthcoming location will offer seasonal tasting menus at dinner, with an à la carte menu served in the restaurant’s lounge. Located in the city’s historic Summerhill neighborhood south of downtown, Heritage Supper Club will build on the community’s cultural legacy through Brown’s culinary perspective, aiming to continue to introduce more guests to the untold stories and flavors of marginalized food traditions, reimagined through both modern and classic techniques.

This is the second concept from Bellevue Hospitality, which is co-owned by Brown and 30+ year restaurateur Brandon Blanchard. Additionally, they own Bread & Butterfly, a café and bistro in the heart of Atlanta’s Inman Park, which was named to The New York Times’ America's Best Restaurants in 2024 and The 25 Best Restaurants in Atlanta list in 2024 and 2025. Brown is also a Food Network “Chopped Next Gen” and “Cutthroat Kitchen” finalist and winner of Food Network’s “Beat Bobby Flay.”

Brought to life by local designer Imani James, the Heritage space will balance earthy tones and greenery with a thoughtful mix of textures and a vast collection of artwork from local artists. Upon entry, guests will be greeted by a welcoming lounge with relaxed seating and a full bar offering an à la carte menu. Dinner service in the dining room will unlock an immersive experience, featuring a short walk through a secret entry and down a dimly lit hallway that will open into a striking two-tiered dining room – all framed by an open kitchen that will serve as both the soul and stage of the restaurant.
