Denish Shah Appointed Chair of Georgia State University’s Department of Marketing

Denish Shah has been appointed director of the Department of Marketing at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, effective Sept. 1, 2025.
With this appointment, Shah will also serve as the Kenneth L. Bernhardt Distinguished Department Chair, while continuing to hold the Barbara and Elmer Sunday Professorship in Marketing.
Shah is a nationally recognized scholar whose research has been cited over 5,700 times in top journals, earning him multiple best paper and young scholar awards. He is the founding director of the Social Media Intelligence Lab, the executive director of the Robinson Marketing Roundtable, and a member of the executive board of the Atlanta chapter of the American Marketing Association. He also leads the department’s annual MAX Awards. In the classroom, Shah has taught at the undergraduate, master’s, Ph.D., and executive doctoral levels and has been recognized by students as a top professor.
“Denish Shah brings deep familiarity with the department, the college, and the university. His record of innovation in curriculum and student engagement, combined with strong connections to the business community, positions him to make a significant impact as chair,” said Richard Phillips, dean of the Robinson College of Business.
“Marketing is one of the largest majors at Robinson and the department represents a highly talented pool of faculty and staff. It is a true honor to lead this department,” said Shah.
Shah joined Georgia State in 2008. He holds a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Connecticut, an MBA from École des Ponts Business School in France, and a Bachelor of Engineering from Mumbai University, India.
