Jim Chapman Construction Group (JCCG), a leading general contractor specializing in build-to-rent (BTR) communities throughout the Southeast, continues to set the standard for safety with the growth and success of its dedicated Safety Department. In August, JCCG hosted a mandatory OSHA Training Day conducted by Pike Consulting to review safety protocols.

“Safety is a shared responsibility and a top priority at every level of our organization,” said Jim Chapman, President of Jim Chapman Construction Group. “Our team’s dedication to proactive training and accountability ensures that everyone goes home safe every day.”

Since launching its formal in-house Safety Department in February 2024, led by Michael Smith, Director of Safety and Quality Control, JCCG has established comprehensive safety initiatives designed to protect its employees, trade partners and clients while maintaining full compliance with OSHA standards.

In 2024, the program achieved several significant milestones, including zero major incidents or OSHA violations. JCCG also enhanced its safety framework by developing a modified version of the Pike Safety Manual to meet the needs of its growing operations, implementing a mandatory Hard Hat Policy across all job sites and requiring company-wide CPR and AED certification through the American Heart Association’s Heart Saver Program. To further safeguard employees and trade partners, the company introduced a Fall Protection Anchor Strap Policy that requires framers to install anchor straps at each site, ensuring proper fall protection for all trades.

Building on these achievements, JCCG’s 2025 safety initiatives include monthly safety training videos for project managers, an annual OSHA Training Day on August 29, 2025 and the ongoing development of tracking metrics to monitor subcontractor and community safety performance. JCCG plans to enroll in the OSHA 510 Occupational Safety and Health classes this December to further strengthen its safety leadership.

The company’s comprehensive Emergency Action Plan was recently implemented at its office and active construction sites, conducting weekly safety reports and bi-monthly inspections with Pike Consulting. These efforts have earned JCCG a nomination for the Home Builders Association of Georgia Safety Leadership Award by Pike Consulting.

“Our goal is not only to meet industry standards but to exceed them,” added Chapman. “We’re proud of our team’s commitment to creating a culture where safety awareness and accountability are part of our everyday operations.”
